BB & CC Creams seem to be all the rage right now. Even all the drugstore products are in on this latest trend, although I don’t see this trend going away any time soon. I don’t use foundation, I never have because I don’t like how it feels on me, but I do love these BB & CC Creams. I wasn’t really sure what BB and CC even stood for (or what the difference was) until a while ago when I was looking for a new BB cream and decided to look it up. I have both in different brands and I love both, but if you’re like me and don’t know what the difference is, read on!
What it Means:
What it stands for: Beauty balm. Texture: Creamy and moisturizing. What it does: Offers daily sun protection, extra hydration, and a touch more coverage than a tinted moisturizer. Because they don’t have a high concentration of anti-aging ingredients, “use them as a supplement—not in place of—your other anti-aging creams or serums,” says cosmetic chemist Ni’kita Wilson. What it stands for: Color correcting. Texture: Lightweight and fast-absorbing. What it does: Imparts an airy veil of coverage and a boost of both instant and protective coverage. “They typically have light-diffusing particles, which visually even skin tone, plus a super-dose of antioxidants” says Francesca Fusco, M.D, a New York City-based dermatologist.
According to experts, the difference between BB and CC Creams is minimal and depends on the brand. I have the Maybeline Dream Fresh BB Cream and I don’t use it often because it feels heavy like foundation, but I do like it. I do use it when I know I will be out in the sun a lot because it has SPF 30 or when I want a more ‘done’ look with more coverage.
I recently bought the Nyx CC Cream and I’m in love with it. It’s looks like green lotion but it actually blends to a natural nude color when applied to your face. The green neutralizes any redness you may have on your face, which is great for my skin tone. They have the violet and yellow CC Creams, depending on your skin tone. I’ve been using the CC Cream every day and love how lightweight it feels while making my skin look like I have foundation.
Do you use any BB or CC Cream? If so, do you have any favorites you would recommend???
