This is our first edition of Top 10 Friday. In this first edition, we’re sharing the ten very quick things you can do to get an instant makeover. Makeovers don’t have to mean a complete transformation, sometimes, all you need is one simple step to feel like a new person.
Top 10 Instant Makeovers:
this is probably the one thing you can do that will have the most impact. Cutting or even styling your hair in a new way; short, pixie, or layers, it could make a huge different to your overall look.
If you don’t want to get a haircut, changing your hair color or even adding some highlights, ombre or a fun color like pink hair can also make you feel and look like a completely different person.
Want a quick makeover? A bright pop of color, especially if it’s something you don’t normally wear, will do the trick. I recently started experimenting with colors I wouldn’t normally not use, like corals, maroons and hot pinks and I have to say that something so simple makes a big difference.
Change where you part your hair
I don’t know if there is an actual name to where you part your hair, but changing it makes such a difference. I’ve been wearing my hair parted on the left side of my head (with my long bangs swept to the side) for years! It just automatically parts to the side now even if I don’t do the line. I slowly started parting my hair down the center last week (I have to use bobby pins to pin it down to ‘train’ it to stay on the other side) and I couldn’t believe how different it made me look.
I love bangs, I really do. But it’s so humid here in the summer and my wavy hair does not work well with bangs. Once I start sweating or I spend too much time outside in the heat, my bangs start getting wavy. So bangs are just not feasible for me in the Summer. I do however, cut my bangs for the winter. For the past 8-9 years, I have bangs from October to February and I feel like it makes me look older (but not in a bad way). If I could pull off bangs all year, I would.
Add some pop of color to your makeup
I love taupes and nudes for my makeup, even my eye makeup. But every once in a while, I like adding a blue or purple eyeliner or eye shadow to mix things up a little.
Groom/shape your brows
I still can’t believe how much of a huge difference shaping your eyebrows does to a person. I have very, very light eyebrows and I always just filled them in. I started actually shaping them over the last year or so and I don’t know how I didn’t do it before. You don’t have to go overboard, some simple grooming/shaping is enough to make a big change.
Fake eyelashes make such a huge difference to not only your makeup, but also just the way you look overall (it really changes your face). I have yet to master the falsie trend (and I’m honestly too lazy to try), but some falsies can be like an instant makeover. If you don’t like the overly dramatic look, you can try the whispy, natural looking ones or just try them for special occasions.
I’ve never been able to grow out my hair, so as much as I love the way long hair looks I’ve resigned myself to my shoulder length hair. I can’t believe how many girls wear extensions without it looking too fake or over the top and if I could find a shade that would match my hair color/texture well, I would like to try out extensions. Even if it’s only for a special occasion.
I don’t know what it is about high heels, but putting on a pair of heels is like an instant confidence booster. Even if it’s wedges or boots with a heel (even if it’s not that high of a heel) always makes me feel better. This is definitely something to invest in because nobody wants to be hurting in a painful pair of cheap heels.
There you have it, some instant makeover boosters. Next time you feel like changing things up a bit, try one of these! Do you have any tips for easy makeovers?
